May Session: They’re Back!
Broadway Sessions are back!
After last month’s successful re-launch at Arkaba, Broadway Sessions continues this month.
Join them in May for great performances celebrating all things musical theatre. Performers can register with any songs from a musical or by an established musical theatre writer.
To mark the beginning of a new era of Broadway Sessions, this month’s theme is Beginnings & Endings. Performers are invited to tell a story in song form which marks the beginning or ending of a show*, character, romance, plot line, idea, journey – you name it. This theme is open to interpretation, so long as you can justify the beginning or ending you can sing it.
You might sing “Bad Idea” as the beginning of Jenna and Dr Pomatter’s relationship, “The Wizard and I” for the beginning of Elphaba’s journey, “A Little Fall of Rain” for Eponine’s death
(we were going to use Javert as an example but we still don’t want to talk about Russell Crowe’s performance) or “Goodbye” as the end of Frank Abagnale’s life on the run. If you want to be a real show-off, be creative with something like “Still Hurting” from The Last Five Years – the beginning of the show and the end of Jamie and Cathy’s relationship!
*Please note that they will not be accepting mouth-trumpet renditions of overtures.
Doors open at 5:45pm. Food and beverages are available from the bar.
For the opportunity to perform, visit the registration page and submit two song options from any musical or written by an established music theatre writer.
Performer registrations close at midday on Sunday 17 May.
