South Australian Music Hall of Famer Gwyn Ashton has played with some of the top-rated guitarists in the world, sharing stages with BB King, Buddy Guy, Rory Gallagher, Mick Taylor, Robin Trower, Peter Green, Steve Morse, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Tony Joe White, Johnny Winter, Albert Lee, Joe Louis Walker, Tommy Emmanuel, Ian Moss and dozens of others.
He has played 15 arena shows with the legendary Status Quo and was voted third ‘Guitarist of The Year’ behind Jeff Beck and Gary Moore at first and second place by Guitar Part Magazine, France.
Once lead guitarist for Stevie Wright (Easybeats), Swanee and Jim Keays (Masters Apprentices) Ashton has played and recorded with Robbie Blunt (Robert Plant) and jammed with Hubert Sumlin (Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters), David Crosby, Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Jerry Jermott (BB King, Aretha Franklin), Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus) and countless others in his 40 year trek around the globe.
Non guitarists he has performed with include Don Airey, Ray Charles and Van Morrison.
Robert Plant called him ‘the king of tone and feel’, Johnny Winter named him ‘a true blues player’ and he was invited to sit in onstage with Mick Fleetwood, Canned Heat and many more.
