HOW DOES IT WORK?

Initial entry to the competition is by way of an online submission. From these submissions 9 upcoming South Australian bands will be selected to perform live at Arkaba Hotel.

Live performances will be split over 3 heats which will be broadcast online, each heat showcasing 3 of the selected bands. Each band will perform 3 songs, at least 2 of which must be original compositions.

Heats will be broadcast Friday nights from 8pm on the Arkaba Hotel Facebook page (and shareable to each band’s page)

Heat 1 – Friday 12/6/2020
Heat 2 – Friday 19/6/2020
Heat 3 – Friday 26/6/2020
Grand Final – Friday 3/7/2020

The heats and final will be pre-recorded earlier in the week of broadcast with a professional audio engineer and camera operators. Bands are to supply their own backline. PA and lighting are provided by Arkaba Hotel.

Each band will be allocated separate time slots to bump-in, record and bump-out to ensure there is no breach of Covid-19 government social distancing regulations.

The performance will not be ‘edited’ – i.e. even if a guitarist breaks a string mid-song the recording will continue and be broadcast in full.

After each heat is broadcast the general public will be invited to vote for their favourite band.

Judging will take place the week following each broadcast and the winners announced on the Arkaba Hotel Facebook page. Judges will take into account the band’s performance, original song compositions and number of votes received (further details in the Terms and Conditions).

The 3 heat winners will be required to record one more performance for the Grand Final decider.

WHAT’S THE PRIZE?

The winner of the Grand Final will receive $3,000 cash. They will also win professional song recording and tracking at Mix Masters Studios plus post production, editing, mixing and mastering at Milk & Honey Studios worth $3,000. (Total winning prize worth $6,000) Winner will be announced on the Arkaba Hotel Facebook page Monday 6/7/2020 at 4pm CST.
